How is clavo huasca sold—powder form or something else—and how do you prepare it?

A real customer question, curated into a useful guide for cooking, product use, and finding just the right thing.

Our Clavo Huasca — Amazonian Love Vine Clavo comes as a powdered vine, packed in a resealable zip bag to keep it fresh.

  • Decoction: Simmer the powder in water for 15–20 minutes. This draws out its warm, clove-like aroma and gives the liquid a reddish hue.
  • Traditional tonic liqueur: The older Amazonian method is to steep it in cane spirits such as aguardiente or rum for a few weeks for a richer, infused drink.
  • Straining: Either way, the powder settles to the bottom of the liquid, so strain it through a fine cloth or coffee filter before serving for a smooth finish.
